Тесты Institutional TOEFL (Тест на знание английского языка как иностранного) и Pre-TOEFL (Предварительный тест на знание английского языка как иностранного) разработаны для оценки уровня владения английским языком учащимися, которые хотели бы продолжить свое образование и для кого английский язык является иностранным. В отличие от официального теста TOEFL IBT, Institutional TOEFL используется учебными заведениями для своих внутренних целей. Результаты, полученные после сдачи тестов категории Institutional, признаются только высшими учебными заведениями, которые сами проводят этот экзамен. Сертификаты с баллами, полученные в результате сдачи тестов ITP, НЕ могут быть использованы для поступления в университеты. Студентам, которым необходимо сдавать экзамен TOEFL для поступления в колледжи и университеты, где преподавание ведется на английском языке (США, Европа, Канада, Австралия), должны сдавать официальный тест TOEFL (IBT TOEFL) (http://www.toefl.org).

В настоящий момент более 1 200 школ, колледжей, университетов и частных институтов по всему миру участвуют в программе тестирования - Institutional TOEFL. Ежегодно только в России около 2000 студентов сдают этот экзамен.

Institutional TOEFL предназначен для того, чтобы:

• определить, обладает ли человек, для которого английский язык является иностранным, необходимыми знаниями языка, позволяющими ему участвовать в учебном процессе за рубежом (для кандидатов на получение стипендий или для участников программ обмена);
• познакомить учащихся с тестами, составленными в формате множественного выбора и подготовить их к сдаче «официального» TOEFL;
• определить уровень знаний языка при зачислении учащихся на языковые курсы и подобрать группы изучения языка соответствующего уровня сложности
• поддержать полный цикл обучения-определение уровня, динамику и выпускной экзамен;
• оценить знания учащихся при сдаче выпускных экзаменов;
• оценить уровень владения учащимися английским языком;
• оценить уровень владения английским языком профессорско-преподавательским составом и другими сотрудниками, которым необходим иностранный язык.

ITP TOEFL and PRE-TOEFL SAMPLE QUESTIONS

Both tests have items with a range of difficulty. This range is much greater on the ITP TOEFL. The Pre-TOEFL test has very few hard questions; the majority are easy-medium difficulty.
